Armadillo – 4k Wallpaper

The word armadillo means “little armoured one” in Spanish. All species are native to the Americas, where they inhabit a variety of different environments. This particular armadillo is a nine-banded armadillo. The nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus), named for the nine breaks in the leathery armor that allow it to flex its stiff hide, is an odd-looking mammal about the size of a cat. A mature armadillo is 15 to 17 inches long (not counting the tail) with a weight of 8 to 17 pounds.

There is a lot going on in this image from a Florida swamp. The tree on the left is rotted and termite-ridden. However, it makes a great place for your icons if you want to use this image as a desktop background. It could also show off some text if you wanted to use this image in some other graphic format.

Most of the rest of the image is taken up by palm fronds with a palm tree trunk and an oak tree trunk standing up through the frame.

Ferns In A Swamp -Wallpaper

This really is an amazing photo. I love the way these small ferns are lit by the shaft of sunlight. The way they are surrounded by the reflective waters of this standing pool, and the way the image is framed with other ferns. It almost seems like it is some sort of fern coming of age ceremony.
This image of ferns was taken in the woods by the Indian River on Merrit Island in Florida. This is very close to the John H Sams Homestead which is one of the oldest structure still standing on Merrit Island (having been built in 1875). This homestead was owned by John H Sams descendants until 1995 when it handed over to the County to be used as a historical site.
